Dental Scalers
Dental Scaler is used to locate and remove unsightly stains, plaque and
bacterial debris. They are one of the most common instruments used in
dentistry. They scaler category includes sickle scalers, hoes, chisels, and
files. Sickle scaler is used for the cleaning purposes. They have a curved
blade and is refers as the true sickle. The ones with a straight blade is
called a modified sickle or jacquette. They have two cutting edges that meet
at a pointed tip to form the blade. The blade is triangular in
cross-section. The face of the blade forms a 90-degree angle to the shank
and has internal angles of 70-80 degrees.
