Bone Files

Bone files are used to file the coarse hard tissues during the surgery. Bone
files are also referred to as bone rasps. They come in a variety of sizes
and coarseness to suit different bones. A variety of sizes and styles from
fine to coarse are available. Come have two working ends others have one.
Some even have cutting teeth for fine cutting before filing. These
instruments are quite commonly used in orthopedic surgery, rhinoplasty and
other plastic surgery involving bone filing.
Raspatory is also a kind of file. The name raspatory is derived from
the word rasp that means grating. It is a surgical instrument used for
scrapping and filing bones or other form tissues. It is an instrument used
in surgery to smooth the edges of a divided bone. Raspatory comes from the
Latin word "raspatorium."
